Wix ADI, the AI website builder and Wix Harmony: what changed

Wix launched ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) in 2016. ADI asked a few this-or-that questions about how you wanted your site to look and then mocked up a site from your answers. Next came the AI website builder, where an AI chat asks about your business first. Wix retired ADI on November 10, 2024: it is no longer available for new sites, published ADI sites now open in the Wix Editor with their content and design intact, unpublished ADI changes did not carry over, and you cannot switch back. In January 2026 Wix launched Wix Harmony, a new editor that combines prompting Aria with drag-and-drop editing on the same project. Wix's AI website builder page now calls the builder part of Harmony. Harmony runs alongside the classic Wix Editor and Wix Studio rather than replacing them, costs nothing extra, and only works for new sites.

For a site plus store, bookings or email marketing on one bill, start with Wix Harmony; if you need custom code, CMS or multilingual pages now, use the Wix Editor or Wix Studio instead. What the Wix AI website builder costs

The builder itself is free, and Wix says Harmony has no separate price because it is included in every plan, including Free. What you pay for is the plan. As of October 2026, Wix lists Light at $17, Core at $29, Business at $39 and Business Elite at $159 a month billed yearly, and $24, $36, $46 and $172 a month billed monthly. The free plan uses a wixsite.com address, shows Wix ads and has 500 MB of storage; Light adds a custom domain and removes ads; Core is the cheapest plan that accepts payments. Lock-in: what you can take with you

Wix states that a Wix site must be hosted and run on Wix's servers because it relies on Wix's proprietary technology, so you cannot move the site itself to another host; you can, however, buy and manage your domain with another provider and connect it. In Wix Harmony you also cannot add your own site code (page or backend code), which Wix supports in the Wix Editor through Dev Mode and in Wix Studio. Durable says it will transfer your custom domain to you if you cancel. Squarespace, Framer and Hostinger do not describe site export on the pricing and product pages we used, so confirm it with them if portability matters.
