The Best Wix Alternatives in 2026

Last verified 2026-10-27
The best Wix alternatives are Squarespace for polished business sites, Hostinger Website Builder for the lowest price, Webflow and Framer for design control, Shopify for online stores, WordPress for full ownership, and Durable for fast local service sites. Wix sites cannot be exported, so switching means rebuilding on the new platform. Prices below come from each official pricing page as of October 2026. If cost is your reason for leaving, compare Wix pricing first: Wix lists Light from $17 a month in US dollars on a yearly subscription and says prices vary by location.
TL;DR: Top pick
Squarespace: Squarespace is the best Wix alternative for most people who want a polished business site on one platform. Its Blueprint AI asks a few questions about your business and builds a multi-page site with starter copy, images and a visual direction, which you then edit in the Fluid Engine drag-and-drop editor. Every plan can sell products and includes a free custom domain for the first year on annual billing. Real limits: Basic ($19 a month billed yearly, $25 monthly, as of October 2026) adds a 2% fee on online store sales, which drops to 0% on Core ($29 billed yearly); AI credits are 10 in total on Basic; and only Wix products can be imported, from a Wix CSV export. Pick it if design matters and you want hosting, store and domain handled for you.
How we ranked them
We kept builders that can replace a Wix site for a small business, creator or shop, then compared them on five things, in this order: (1) how close the editing experience and built-in AI come to what Wix offers; (2) what you need to run a real site, such as a custom domain, forms, a blog, bookings or a store; (3) the lowest paid price that connects your own domain, plus renewal or month-to-month rates; (4) what the free plan or trial actually lets you do; and (5) how much of a Wix site you can bring over and how easily you could leave again. AI coding tools were left out.

Which Wix alternative fits your project
Start with why you are leaving. If you want a better-looking business site with little setup, choose Squarespace; our Wix vs Squarespace comparison goes deeper on templates and stores. If the monthly bill is the issue and you can prepay, Hostinger is the cheapest option here, and our cheapest website builder ranking lists more low-cost picks. Designers who find the Wix editor limiting should look at Webflow for CMS-heavy sites or Framer for fast marketing pages, and Framer vs Webflow helps you choose between them. If you mostly sell products, move to Shopify. If you want to own everything and add plugins, choose WordPress, and read Wix vs WordPress before you switch. For a quick site for a plumber, cleaner or salon, Durable gets you online with the least effort.
What switching from Wix costs
Compare the plan you would actually need, not the headline price. On Wix, Light starts at $17 a month on a yearly subscription and Core at $29 is the first plan that accepts payments, as of October 2026, and Wix notes that prices and currency vary by location. Squarespace Basic ($19 billed yearly) can sell, but adds a 2% fee on store sales that Core ($29) removes. Hostinger Premium is $2.49 a month only on a 48-month prepaid term and renews at $10.99. Webflow Basic is $15 billed yearly but has no CMS, so a blog needs the $25 Premium plan. Framer Basic is $10 a month. Shopify Basic is $29 billed yearly plus card fees. WordPress.com Personal is $4 billed yearly, while self-hosted WordPress costs whatever your host charges. Durable Launch is $25 a month on its plan card ($22 in its comparison table). Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first Premium upgrade, so check your renewal date before you cancel.
Ownership, lock-in and moving off Wix
Wix's help center says a Wix site must be hosted and operated on Wix's servers, so you cannot export it to another host. Blog posts cannot be exported to other platforms either, and you cannot switch an existing site's template and keep all its content. What you can take: Wix Stores products export to a CSV file (up to 5,000 rows per file, digital products excluded), and a domain bought through Wix can be transferred out with an EPP code, which usually takes up to 7 days and is blocked for 60 days after purchase or a registrant change under ICANN rules. On the receiving end, Squarespace imports Wix products by CSV but says layout, design and fonts must be rebuilt; Shopify moves products and customers with its migration app; and WordPress.com imports pages, images and menus. List your current URLs before you start so you can set up redirects. Lock-in varies after the move too: WordPress is open source, Webflow can export code on a paid Workspace plan without CMS or forms, and Squarespace exports only some content in a WordPress format.
How we chose
We compared each builder's official pricing page, product pages and help documentation, all loaded on October 27, 2026, against Wix's own plans page and help center. We did not build sites with these tools for this page. Prices are in US dollars as displayed to us and can change or vary by country, so check the linked source before you pay. The best Wix alternatives, ranked
- 1Squarespace
Template-led website builder with Blueprint AI, built-in commerce and a 14-day free trial
Squarespace is the best Wix alternative for most people who want a polished business site on one platform.
- Best for:
- Design-led business sites with a store or bookings
- Pricing:
- 14-day free trial. Basic $19/mo billed yearly ($25 monthly), as of October 2026
- 2Hostinger Website Builder
Drag-and-drop website builder with AI tools, hosting and a first-year domain; Black Friday promo from $2.49/mo on a 48-month term, renews at $10.99/mo (October 2026)
Hostinger's AI Builder has two modes on every plan: Manual, a classic drag-and-drop editor, and Agentic, where you build websites and web apps by prompting the AI. Premium costs $2.49 a month (as of October 2026) on a 48-month term, paid upfront as $119.52, and renews at $10.99 a month. It covers up to 3 websites and a free custom domain for a year. Real limits: the low price needs a four-year commitment; an online store is listed on Unlimited ($3.49 a month on the same term, renewing at $16.99) rather than Premium; and Premium's 250 AI credits were shown as 500 under an undated Black Friday offer as of October 27, 2026, so do not count on the higher figure. A 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee lower the risk. Pick it if Wix's monthly cost is the problem.
- Best for:
- The lowest paid price if you can prepay
- Pricing:
- Premium $2.49/mo on a 48-month term, renews at $10.99/mo, as of October 2026
- 3Webflow
AI-native visual website platform with CMS, hosting and AI site generation
Webflow is a visual designer for people who want more layout control than Wix gives, and its AI can turn a prompt into a site you keep refining by hand. The free Starter plan publishes 2 static pages to a webflow.io address. Basic ($15 a month billed yearly, as of October 2026) adds a custom domain and 300 static pages but no CMS; the Premium plan ($25 billed yearly) adds the CMS with up to 20,000 items, and ecommerce starts at $29. Real limits: the pricing page shows only yearly rates for these plans, and code export needs a separate paid Workspace plan, with CMS content, forms and store data left out of the export. Pick it if you or your designer care about fine control.
- Best for:
- Designers who want precise layout control and a strong CMS
- Pricing:
- Free Starter. Basic $15/mo billed yearly, as of October 2026
- 4Framer
AI website builder and design agent for designers and teams, with CMS and hosting built in
Framer calls itself a free website builder with a design agent that takes you from idea to launch: the agent builds and changes pages directly on a design canvas, and every change stays editable. Hosting, CMS, analytics and SEO tools are included. The free plan gives 500 AI credits to try and 1 GB of bandwidth on a Framer domain, and Framer says it suits non-commercial use. Basic ($10 a month, as of October 2026) adds a custom domain, 30 pages, 2 CMS collections with 1,000 items and 50 GB of bandwidth; Pro is $30. Real limits: those Basic caps mean larger sites need Pro, and the free plan is not meant for business use. Pick it for a striking portfolio or startup site.
- Best for:
- Designers, startups and marketing sites
- Pricing:
- Free plan (non-commercial). Basic $10/mo, as of October 2026
- 5Shopify
AI-assisted ecommerce platform with Shopify Magic
If your Wix site is mainly a shop, Shopify is the specialist. Every plan includes the website builder, Sidekick (its AI assistant for commerce) and the option to set up a store from a simple prompt. Basic costs $29 a month billed yearly or $39 monthly (as of October 2026), with online card rates from 2.9% plus 30 cents and a 2% fee if you use a third-party payment provider. Shopify's help center covers moving from Wix: products and customers come over with its Store Migration app or CSV files, order history needs a third-party app, and reviews cannot be migrated directly. Pick it when selling is the main job of your site.
- Best for:
- Online stores that need to scale
- Pricing:
- 3-day free trial, then $1/mo for 3 months. Basic $29/mo billed yearly, as of October 2026
- 6WordPress
Open-source CMS with AI page-builder plugins
WordPress is open source software under the GPL, so you can run it on any host, change it and move it whenever you like. The self-hosted version needs a server with PHP 8.3 or newer and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.11 or newer, or you can start with one of WordPress.org's recommended hosting providers. WordPress.com is the hosted route: Personal is $4 a month billed yearly ($9 monthly), plugins need a paid plan, and full ecommerce starts on Commerce ($45 billed yearly). Real limits: the WordPress software itself has no built-in AI builder (WordPress.com offers one that builds a site by chatting with AI), and the WordPress.com Wix importer brings over pages, images and menus but not your design, with blog posts limited to the 20 most recent through RSS. Pick it if you never want to be locked in again.
- Best for:
- Full ownership, plugins and portability
- Pricing:
- Free open source software (hosting extra). WordPress.com Personal $4/mo billed yearly, as of October 2026
- 7Durable
AI business builder that creates a small business website, CRM and booking page in minutes
Durable generates a site for a local service business and bundles a CRM, bookings and AI tools for blog posts and SEO. The free plan lets you build and share a preview on a durable.site address with 300 AI credits in total and a CRM for up to 10 customers, but no custom domain. Launch ($25 a month on the plan card, as of October 2026) adds a custom domain and gives 1,000 AI credits a month; Grow ($49) gives 5,000. Real limits: the pricing page also shows Launch at $22 in its comparison table without saying which billing term that is, and its yearly toggle says only "Save 15%", so confirm the price at checkout. If you cancel, Durable says you can ask to have your custom domain transferred. Pick it for a simple trades or services site.
- Best for:
- Local service businesses that want a site fast
- Pricing:
- Free preview. Launch $25/mo on the plan card ($22 in the comparison table), as of October 2026
Verdict
Squarespace is the best Wix alternative for most small businesses: it builds a polished site from a few answers, sells on every plan and keeps hosting simple. Choose Hostinger if price comes first and you can prepay, Webflow or Framer if design control matters most, Shopify if your site is really a store, WordPress if you want to own and move your site freely, and Durable for a fast local service site. Whichever you pick, plan to rebuild your pages, since Wix does not export sites.
