Best Framer AI Website Builder Features in 2026

Framer's AI website builder is an agent inside the Framer editor: you describe a site and it builds editable pages, sections, copy, CMS collections and responsive breakpoints that you then refine by chat or on a design canvas. It is free to try with 500 AI credits; publishing on your own domain starts at $10 a month with yearly billing (as of October 2026). Below: every Framer AI feature, what it costs, how lock-in works, and five alternatives.
TL;DR: Top pick
Framer: Framer is the strongest pick when design quality matters more than an all-in-one business toolkit. Start from a blank project, describe the site, and Framer's agent builds native pages, navigation, CMS content, components and breakpoints that stay fully editable on a Figma-like canvas. Further agents restyle sections, build custom code components, manage CMS collections, and audit the site for broken links, accessibility issues, typos, missing alt text and SEO gaps before you publish. Real limits: AI work uses credits shared across your workspace; there is no built-in store, so selling relies on third-party plugins; and Framer's help center gives conflicting answers on whether you can export a site's HTML. Pricing (as of October 2026): the free plan publishes on a Framer domain with 500 AI credits to try and is meant for non-commercial use; Basic costs $10 a month with yearly billing and adds a custom domain, 1,000 AI credits a month, 30 pages and 2 CMS collections; Pro costs $30 a month with yearly billing for 3,000 credits, 150 pages, 10 collections and staging.
How we ranked them
We compared each builder on five things, in order: (1) how much of a real, editable site the AI produces from a prompt; (2) how much design control you keep after generation; (3) how AI usage is metered, and whether credits run out; (4) the cheapest plan that publishes on your own domain; and (5) what you can take with you if you leave. Framer is the subject of this page, so it comes first; the alternatives are AI website builders that people weigh against it, not coding tools.
Pros
- +Agents build a full, editable site from a prompt, including CMS collections and breakpoints
- +Design canvas for fine control once the draft exists; hand edits use no agent credits
- +Pre-publish review for contrast, typos, alt text and SEO gaps
- +Auto Translate and localization across 238 languages and regional variants
- +Free plan with 500 AI credits to try
Cons
- −AI credits are shared across the whole workspace
- −Free plan is meant for non-commercial use and has no custom domain
- −No built-in store or checkout; selling needs third-party plugins
- −Framer's help center gives conflicting answers on HTML export
- −Extra editors, translation locales and A/B tests cost extra

What Framer AI can build
Framer's AI is now a set of agents that work inside your project rather than a one-shot generator. From a blank project, Framer's Academy says the agent creates native pages, navigation, CMS content, components and breakpoints; you then select a section and ask it to rework layout, visual direction, interactions or animations. Framer's agents page lists tasks beyond the first draft: updating copy and structure across an existing site, styling, migrating from another tool, making layouts responsive, creating CMS collections and importing content, building custom components such as accordions or a 3D carousel, and writing titles, descriptions, alt text and Open Graph content. A review step checks contrast, typos, missing alt text, SEO gaps and inconsistent styles before publishing, and an analytics view suggests changes based on traffic and drop-offs. Skills, launched September 22, 2026, save reusable instructions such as your design system or writing style. Framer MCP, announced October 22, 2026, lets outside AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and Codex work on the canvas, manage CMS content and publish; the pricing page marks it as a preview that is free during the preview. Workshop, Framer's older AI plugin for generating components by chat, is being deprecated in favor of agents. For translation, Auto Translate keeps every enabled locale updated as you edit, including CMS items, and Framer's localization supports 238 languages and regional variants. What it does not do: Framer has no built-in store or checkout, so selling depends on third-party plugins from its marketplace.
What Framer AI costs
As of October 2026, Framer's pricing page lists Free at $0, Basic at $10 a month and Pro at $30 a month with yearly billing, plus a custom-priced Enterprise plan. Free gives 500 AI credits to try agents, a Framer domain and 1 GB of bandwidth; Framer calls it ideal for non-commercial use and says a custom domain needs a paid plan. Basic includes a custom domain (with a complimentary domain on yearly billing), 1,000 AI credits a month, 30 pages, 2 CMS collections, 1,000 CMS items and 50 GB of bandwidth. Pro includes 3,000 AI credits a month, 150 pages, 10 CMS collections, 2,500 CMS items, 100 GB of bandwidth, redirects, a staging environment and branching. Both paid plans offer larger credit tiers (up to 15,000 a month on Basic and 100,000 on Pro), double credits in the first month, and the option to add credits anytime. Credits power agents, localization and other AI features and are shared across the whole workspace, but Framer's Academy notes that small edits made by hand on the canvas do not use agent credits. Extras add up: additional editors cost $20 each and content editors $10 each, translation locales cost $20 each (up to 20), and the Convert add-on for A/B tests costs $50 per 500,000 events on Pro.
Ownership, export and lock-in
This is the murkiest part of Framer. One Framer help article, updated September 15, 2026, says Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting because published sites depend on its infrastructure for pre-rendering, image optimization and server-side rendering, and it adds that if you need to export source code, Framer may not be the right fit. Another help article updated the same day, about data portability under the EU Data Act, says every Framer site is published as standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets that you can download and host anywhere. Both agree that CMS content can be exported through plugins as CSV or JSON, and you can connect your own domain. If you may want to leave later, confirm the current export route with Framer before you build. For comparison, Webflow states that paid Workspace plans can export code, while Wix says its sites must stay on Wix's servers. Our list of Framer alternatives covers more options if portability is a deal breaker.
Who should pick Framer
Pick Framer if you are a designer, founder or marketing team that wants a good-looking landing page, product site or portfolio and is happy to work on a design canvas once the agent has done the first draft. Portfolios are a natural fit, since layout and motion carry the work; our AI portfolio website builder guide compares the options. Look elsewhere if you need online payments on one platform (Wix), bookings and a CRM (Durable), a large CMS with clear code export (Webflow), or you want to stay inside Figma (Figma Make). For the wider field, see our list of the best AI website builders.
How we chose
We read Framer's pricing page, AI and agents pages, updates log, Academy lessons and help center articles on October 27, 2026, then compared five AI website builders that buyers often weigh against Framer using their own pricing and product pages from the same day. We did not test the tools ourselves. Prices are in US dollars before tax and change often.
What we could not verify
Framer's pricing page shows prices with yearly billing selected, and we could not find the month-to-month prices in the published page. Framer's help center contradicts itself on HTML export, as described above. Figma's pricing page shows the $16 Full seat price with annual billing selected, and we could not find its month-to-month price. Webflow's site plan pages did not show month-to-month prices, and none of Squarespace, Figma or Durable describe site export on the pages we used.
Framer's AI builder and the best alternatives
- 1Framer
AI website builder and design agent for designers and teams, with CMS and hosting built in
Framer is the strongest pick when design quality matters more than an all-in-one business toolkit.
- Best for:
- Design-led marketing sites and portfolios
- Pricing:
- Free plan; Basic $10/mo with yearly billing (as of Oct 2026)
- 2Webflow
AI-native visual website platform with CMS, hosting and AI site generation
Webflow is the closest rival for people who want visual control plus a deeper CMS. Its AI can turn a prompt into a full site, generate sections and code components, write copy and generate CMS items. Real limits: pricing is split between site plans and Workspace plans; as of October 2026 the Basic site plan costs $15 a month billed yearly but has no CMS, which starts on Premium at $25 a month billed yearly; Workspace AI credits are 200 on Starter, 300 on Core and 400 on Growth, with 2,000 more a month for $20 billed yearly. Unlike Framer, Webflow states that paid Workspace plans (Core is $19 a month billed yearly) can export a site to host elsewhere, although CMS items and pages are not part of the code export (Webflow says collections are exported one by one) and forms stop working. Pick Webflow for content-heavy sites; our Framer vs Webflow compared guide goes further.
- Best for:
- CMS-heavy sites and teams
- Pricing:
- Free Starter; Basic $15/mo billed yearly (as of Oct 2026)
- 3WWix
AI website builder with a free plan, drag-and-drop editing and 2000+ templates
Wix's AI website builder, now part of Wix Harmony, asks you to describe your business in plain language, generates a site, and lets you keep editing by hand or with Aria, Wix's built-in AI agent. It starts free with no credit card. Real limits: connecting a custom domain, collecting online payments or using additional features needs a Premium plan, and Wix states that a site must be hosted and run on Wix's servers, so you cannot move it elsewhere. As of October 2026, Wix lists Light at $17 a month billed yearly. Pick Wix over Framer if you want a guided builder and payments on one platform more than layout freedom; see our Wix AI website builder review.
- Best for:
- All-in-one small business sites
- Pricing:
- Free plan; Light $17/mo billed yearly (as of Oct 2026)
- 4SSquarespace
Template-led website builder with Blueprint AI, built-in commerce and a 14-day free trial
Squarespace's Blueprint AI turns a description of your business into a multi-page starting point with pages, copy, imagery, colors and fonts, then lets you edit by drag and drop, ask an AI assistant for changes, generate images or describe custom sections. Real limits: there is no free plan, only a 14-day free trial, and you need a paid plan to publish; AI credits are tight, with 10 one-time credits on Basic and 20, 40 or 120 a month on Core, Plus and Advanced; Basic charges a 2% fee on online store sales. As of October 2026, Basic costs $19 a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, and annual plans include a free domain for the first year. Pick Squarespace if you want a guided, polished result with less canvas work than Framer.
- Best for:
- Polished sites from a description
- Pricing:
- Basic $19/mo billed yearly, $25 monthly (as of Oct 2026)
- 5FFigma Make
Prompt-to-app inside Figma, with real code behind the prototype
Figma Make generates a functional prototype or web app from a prompt, can start from your existing Figma designs, connects to Supabase for sign-in and stored data, and publishes the result to a dedicated URL. Figma's separate Figma Sites, still in beta and available on Full seats, publishes responsive websites with a CMS, code layers and a custom domain option. Real limits: both are tied to Figma seats; as of October 2026, Figma's pricing page lists the Professional Full seat at $16 a month billed annually with 3,000 AI credits a month, while the free Starter plan gets 150 AI credits a day, up to 500 a month. Pick Figma Make if your team lives in Figma and wants prompt-built prototypes or simple sites without switching tools; our Figma AI website builder guide compares the options.
- Best for:
- Teams already designing in Figma
- Pricing:
- Free Starter; Professional Full seat $16/mo billed annually (as of Oct 2026)
- 6DDurable
AI business builder that creates a small business website, CRM and booking page in minutes
Durable is the opposite of Framer: less design control, more business tooling. It generates a small business site quickly and adds a built-in CRM, bookings synced to your calendar and AI agents that work in the background. Real limits: the free plan only gives you a private preview on a durable.site subdomain, with 300 AI credits in total and up to 10 CRM customers. As of October 2026, Launch costs $22 a month billed annually or $25 monthly with 1,000 AI credits a month and a custom domain, and Grow costs $41 billed annually or $49 monthly with 5,000 credits. Pick Durable if you run a service business and care more about leads than layout.
- Best for:
- Service businesses wanting a CRM and AI agents
- Pricing:
- Free preview; Launch $22/mo billed annually, $25 monthly (as of Oct 2026)
Verdict
Framer's AI website builder is the best choice here for design-led marketing sites and portfolios: its agents build a real, editable site, then keep helping with CMS, components, translation and pre-publish checks, from $10 a month with yearly billing. The trade-offs are credits shared across your workspace, no built-in store and unclear export rules. Choose Webflow for a bigger CMS and code export, Wix for an all-in-one business site, Squarespace for a guided result, Figma Make if your team lives in Figma, or Durable for a CRM and AI agents.
